The students also spent the last two weeks taking the Parcc test. For the last week before break, we will read an article on the history of chemistry. Have a wonderful break! Block A (1,4,8): 2/6 - 2/17
Block B (2,5,9): 2/20 - 3/3 For the past two weeks, students have worked on creating several different apps! They had also worked on several brainpop activities relating to computer science. Finally, students created an app of their very own for their summative and will be sharing their app with the class in the first week of March. Block A (1,4,8): 1/9 - 1/20
Block B (2,5,9): For the last two weeks, students completed lesson 1.1.3. Students used MIT app inventor to create a tally counter with a reset button. This week students spent the first few days answering how computing has changed the world. Each student picked a global problem and tried to solve the problem with computing. They began to relate how computer science has become an important component in every career. At the end of the week students went into MIT app inventor and began to explore the website as well as begin lesson 1.1.2. Block A (1,4,8): 12/5 - 12/8
This week students spent the first four days in science and the Friday in social studies. During the 4 days, students completed lesson 1.1.2 which allowed them to create an app that captures pictures and allows you to doodle on it. They then created two practice assignments to get a better understanding of MIT app inventor. Block B (2,5,9): 12/9 Block B only had science on Friday. During class we introduced computer science and assigned laptops to each student. We went over some classroom expectations as well as parter expectations. Finally the students were introduced to the vocabulary for 1.1.1 and were asked to complete flashcards for their vocab by Monday. Block A (1,4,8): 11/28 - 12/2
This week students will be introduced to PLTW. The first half of the week will consist with getting to know their table and how to work in a professional environment. Students will also be relating computer networking to various professions and hobbies so they understand how computers have drastically changed our lives. Finally, students will have the chance to begin coding with MIT app inventor and create an app that allows them to take a picture of themselves and doodle. (Just like snapchat!) |
